A Message From Randy

Today I got a phone call from the bank, and my heart sank. I already knew in my gut what she was going to say.

Over the years, I sold my home and put approximately $400,000 of my own money into the ranch. I also set aside $50,000 for myself — for medical expenses and for the day something happens to me.

Little by little, I’ve been using that too.

Today, I transferred the last $10,000 I had available into the ranch account so we could keep going.

I’m embarrassed to even write this. I feel horrible asking. I know everyone is stretched right now, and I do not want anyone giving us their last dollar.

But I will do anything I can to help these animals.

The reality is, I can no longer be the ranch’s financial safety net by myself.

We are not trying to expand. Every future project is on hold. Those projects were meant to enhance the lives of the animals already in our care — better spaces, better comfort, better quality of life.

Right now, though, we simply need to make sure the ranch survives.

Hay, grain, veterinary care, farrier care, utilities, medications, groceries — everything has gone up, while our fundraising asks are coming in far short of what the bills actually cost.

Our goal now is to build a $100,000 operating reserve so we are no longer living emergency to emergency.

The animals here are alive because this ranch exists.

I want to make sure it is still here for them tomorrow.
